Why does every one want to go to Brighton anyway
I thought it was the gay capitol of England

Re: Brighton tickets
Cancelling AST shouldn’t be that much of a controversy because the AST holders will in theory start the season with the most PPs so they will be ahead of the game.

It just means there will be times where a former AST holder will not go to a game and that ticket will go to someone else down the pecking order

Re: Brighton tickets
Is it not being able to get a ticket to an away game or not building up priority points that is the problem??

If people just want to buy a ticket for a game then buy one of those being sold on Facebook.

Re: Brighton tickets
the old old method of putting in a faxed form for a group of pals all of whom had points around a similar number worked a treat - mainly that you could get seated with your pals!

This new system is a complete half-arsed ill thought through c/o Nicola Key or the office junior

One thing I hadnt fully appreciated is that the £30 tickets had made it alot more accessible to more fans

I cant see how they can cancel the AST's these have been the most loyal, through thin and thinner

Re: Brighton tickets
As 'Cup of Tea' stated whatever way you look at the ticket system it is going to piss certain people off.

I have been going to away games for around 5 years now, including pre season trips & Europa League games so have built my points up over the years so at the moment I am not missing out on tickets.

Can so the club going down the route of doing away with the AST as this will then free up 600/800 tickets per game but leave them with their warranted points as taking them all away would be unfair to the ones that actually go every away game.

Then I can see them remove all points from everyone else & the start of next season as a first come first serve basis & do a points system based on the location of the away game & if weekend/midweek . Will then work out fairly & again in the long run benefit the loyal fans that go everywhere & then after a while once this has all worked out there can be no moaning from the day trippers that only go to the glamorous games.

As previously stated it will piss certain people off depending on how many points they have & I don't want to stick up for the club as the way it has been run is a shambles but they are in a lose lose situation here.

I doubt Brighton will sell out their home ends.

Re: Brighton tickets
The only reason they have the 2 season rule is they need some way to work out the "most loyal" supporters for the early away games in the season. The easiest way to do that is to see who went to x number of away games last season.

I missed out by one point for Huddersfield and Brighton so this 10% rule is killing me.

Re: Brighton tickets
Buster, you're probably right.

I would back maintaining points over two seasons simply because it rewards those that travel frequently, which is fair enough.

I have 4 points for this season, but had I been able to buy tickets via the club, I'd have 8. In the grand scheme of things, that's nothing while tickets are £30 a pop.

Cheap away tickets means more people willing to buy, which is again fair enough.

This season, if I can, the away games I'm looking at are Bournemouth in the cup, Swansea, and Leicester.

Re: Brighton tickets
I know people who have more than 1 AST and they just sell them when they can. Taking the odd 30 quid hit isn't a problem.

They will have to come up with a new system because next year and the year after we will basically have 3k with the same points.

My guess is they'll be trying to cut the numbers back after all this moaning. Points being valid for two seasons will be changed as well I reckon.

Re: Brighton tickets
Things have changed. I am not sure if there is a right or wrong method, any method will benefit some and piss others off. Stadiums being all seater do not help due to capacity but that is done and dusted now so nothing can be done.

This is how I would do it, using an example of an away capacity being around 3,000 (adjust figures based on what the actual allocation is)

- Scrap the AST scheme
- Allow ST holders with enough points to buy tickets on line or in person up to a certain date based on the amount of points they have and earlier dates for those with more points etc - this would be for 80% of tickets
- 10% of tickets to go in to a ballot for ANYONE with a history of booking with WHU - you MUST have a history to use this scheme and up to a certain date for purchase
- 5% of tickets reserved for those that go to games that are midweek or up north that commit to going so can be rewarded
- 5% total general sale at the cess pit or buy on line around 5-7 days before the game for anyone

I don't know, any scheme would have benefits and disadvantages for some so nothing will work in full. I accept as I don't go any more I cannot get to see the glamourous games, I can deal with that. What you do not want is the same fans year after year stockpiling tickets but again you could argue if they are most loyal why should they not get preference.

As I say, anyone that can come up with a fullproof scheme making everyone happy would be a genius because it is not possible

Re: Brighton tickets
Next season will be carnage because it will just be the 30 quid away games that are on there. I just hope they don't go down a ballot route.

Buster 1:38 Wed Jan 17
Re: Brighton tickets
Doesn't really help the whole situation when you have a certain tour company stockpiling ref numbers so that they can sell more spaces on their coach while the STH gets the point.

Re: Brighton tickets
One Mac

There's a facebook group for selling spares and every away game its the same faces selling....sometimes before they've even gone on sale from the TO. I can only assume they are Away STHs.

Its either that or if you cant beat them, join them and hoover up as many as you can just for the points with a view to selling on to the desperate masses.

I agree with that. Also quite like the idea of certain games getting more points, although that still won't stop people buying tickets and not going. In fact, it will probably get worse.

Re: Brighton tickets
Website crashed bang on 11 and all the tickets went by time it went back up for the majority

Think they should rank away games so that midweeks 3 points.....london derbies 1 point......any europe games 5 points etc...

Dont mind the system but make the fucking website work

Re: Brighton tickets
The away scheme has been in place for many years but since moving stadiums the amount of people has nearly doubled in size.

The last season at UP we had roughly 300/350 on this scheme. We now have 650/700 on there which for games like Bournemouth where you get 1800 tickets is leaving roughly 900/1000 tickets left once you take out corporate, sponsors and away ST holders.

Woodford Green 12:14 Mon Jan 15
Re: Brighton tickets
IMO a better method to sort the current problem is that they should get rid of the away STs. I think quite a few of the holders don't actually go to every game and pick and choose the ones they want to.

About 700 tickets are taken by ASTs which is a quite a big percentage of the average allocation.

Re: Brighton tickets
If you want to attend away games you have to bit a bit pro active there are ways and means of getting away tickets but does involve some effort and a lot of travelling unless of course you only want to go to local away games
